Magic Memory Box - an haptic, interactive digital media application

Basically, Memory is a card game in which all the cards are laid face down on a surface and two cards are flipped face up over each turn. The object of the game is to turn over pairs of matching cards.

Magic Memory Box is the haptic, computer-aided version of this game.

Intended functionality

The experimental setup consists of a table with a glass plate with a camera mounted below.

At the beginning of the game encoded playing cards with sensible different surfaces are placed face down on the table - the cards are screened by a box. Anyway, the players will not be able to draw any conclusion out of the different cards, since there is no visible pair.

Cards flipped face up will be recognised through the camera. If two cards with the same value are flipped in one turn, the player gets a pair and may remove these two cards from the table top

Technology

The realisation of Magic Memory requires a webcam and a OS with reacTIVision, Panda3D & Python installed and running.
